Ethos Music Center - Rural Outreach Project
 
 
 
Ethos is seeking community-minded musicians and music educators to join our team of Rural Outreach Project (ROP) Music Facilitators/AmeriCorps members for the 2020-21 school year. The positions are a full-time AmeriCorps positions with benefits, based in rural towns across Oregon. Primary responsibilities include teaching music during and after school four to five days a week in classroom and small group settings. Members will also in live the rural communities, assist in training and supervising volunteers to help with lessons, summer camps, and organizing community events and concerts. The Rural Outreach Project not only brings much-needed music education and exposure to underserved communities, but gives musicians and music educators the opportunity to use their talents in a unique and meaningful way, while gaining valuable practice in classroom teaching. Applicants must have experience working with children. The positions are open until filled.

Member Duties : 1. Teach general music classes to pre-kindergarten through sixth grade students. 2. Teach elective music courses at the middle and high school level. 3. Organize and/or teach after-school individual and/or group instrument or vocal lessons. 4. Recruit and train community members to be volunteer teaching assistants. 5. Encourage and track youth, volunteer, and parent involvement in all activities. 6. Attend Ethos and AmeriCorps sponsored orientations, training, and meetings. 7. Complete and submit in a timely manner all Ethos and AmeriCorps required reports and time sheets. 8. Complete 1700 hours of service over 11 months - or - complete 900 hours of service of 6 months.9. Organize student performances, community music events, and community classes in each town. 10. Consult with staff on recruitment and long-term programming plans.
