2019 Promise Neighborhood Community Garden VSA Project - IF
 
 
 
Our mission is to engage Talahi families to support academic, economic and social aspirations. We are located in Sherburne County, a food dessert and a community where youth living in poverty need academic support and access to free programming to prevent summer slide. Our goal is create economic and leadership opportunities for the community. Youth and families will improve access to fresh vegetables, participate in urban gardening and have access to healthy meals, quality science projects and experiential learning.

Member Duties : Our AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates (VSA) will co-create science curriculum, plant, cultivate and harvest fresh vegetables provide mentoring for youth and families to participate in urban gardening, raise profile for Promise Neighborhood. Additionally our VSAs will participate in leadership development, learn program planning, increase access to community leaders and elected officials and improve social capital.
 
Program Benefits : Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend ,  Living Allowance ,  Education award upon successful completion of service .
