Chisholm Trail RSVP-EFTX Transition Education Summer VISTA
 
 
 
The Epilepsy Foundation Texas (EFTX) located in Houston, Texas leads the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures and save lives. Established in 1983, the Epilepsy Foundation Texas-Houston/Dallas-Fort Worth/West Texas provides a number of programs and services, including: public and professional education and awareness programs, camp and recreation programs for people with epilepsy and their families and specialized medical care throughout the state. The EFTX Transition Education Summer Associate VISTA will help develop and implement curriculum for the self-advocacy program to help teens living with epilepsy get information about managing their seizures and preparing for adulthood. As an EFTX Summer Associate VISTA you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the AmeriCorps VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. Member Duties : The Transition Education Program offers opportunities for teens with epilepsy to learn self-advocacy skills in order to get information about managing their seizures and preparing for adulthood. Teens will learn these skills through education, community sharing and working together to in a project to share with the general public. Major Duties Include: • Work with Transition Education Coordinator to develop a self-advocacy curriculum • Implement self-advocacy curriculum in all 3 EFTX summer camps • Coordinate survey process at baseline and follow-up. The EFTX Transition Education Summer Associate position will begin May 20, 2019 and is located in Houston, TX.
