High Plains Library Summer Reading Outreach Associate
 
 
 
High Plains Library District (HPLD) is searching for two individuals to serve for 10 weeks this summer in Greeley, Colorado to help bring summer reading to populations outside of the libraries. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual that is interested in gaining valuable skills in youth development and community outreach. The High Plains Library District serves 270,000 residents across Weld County, covering a geographic area of just under 4.000 square miles. HPLD includes of seven branch libraries located in Erie, Firestone, Greeley, Evans and Kersey; Outreach Services including a Bookmobile, a Lobby Stop Van, and public computer centers; and six autonomous municipal libraries in Ault, Eaton, Fort Lupton, Hudson, Johnstown and Platteville. The mission of the District is to connect communities to inspiration, information, and entertainment for life. The vision of HPLD is to continue building on its solid reputation for quality public library services. HPLD wants to increase overall participation and unite residents by being so connected to our communities that the library: becomes everyone’s first and best choice for life-long learning; is seen as a necessary and important community asset and is a community destination and gathering place. Every year, HPLD offers a Summer Reading Adventure to encourage healthy summer reading habits in kids. The goal of the Summer Reading Adventure is to foster personal growth and development, promote a passion for reading, and support family literacy.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate will be taking the Summer Reading Adventure to our community partners in order to reach populations who do not traditionally use the library or may face barriers to library services. Members duties will include: 1.) Provide information to community partners to be sent home to families and children, 2.) Help community partners register students to participate in Summer Reading, 3.) Distribute logs, books, and charts, 4.) Assist library staff in delivering Summer Reading programming, 5.) Track progress and completion of the program, 6.) Deliver incentives to children based on progressions
