2019 Habitat Program Development VISTA - Sturgeon Bay, WI

Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Nearly 20% of WI residents pay more than 50% of their family income for housing. The 37 WI affiliates are addressing the need for affordable housing by partnering with families to build, rehab or repair homes. The HFHWI VISTA program’s goal is to develop sustainable home repair programs to preserve housing and help more families. With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTAs help affiliates bring individuals & communities out of poverty. With headquarters in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, the affiliate serves the communities of Door County, known as “Wisconsin’s thumb” (a 2.5-hour drive northeast from Milwaukee and 4.5-hour drive north from Chicago or east from Minneapolis). A major vacation destination, Door County has beautiful sandy beaches, quaint small towns, three state parks, orchards, and vineyards. Door County Habitat for Humanity has dedicated over 25 years providing “a world where everyone has a decent place to live,” with 41 homes built and approximately 42 home repairs completed.
