2019 Habitat Repairs Program Expansion VISTA - Sheboygan, WI
 
 
 
Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Nearly 20% of WI residents pay more than 50% of their family income for housing. The 37 WI affiliates are addressing the need for affordable housing by partnering with families to build, rehab or repair homes. The HFH WI VISTA program’s goal is to develop sustainable home repair programs to preserve housing and help more families. With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTAs help affiliates bring individuals & communities out of poverty. Habitat for Humanity Lakeside was founded in January of 1993, with their main office located in the bustling town of Sheboygan, known as “The Spirit on the Lake” - and also, the surfing capital of Lake Michigan! HFH Lakeside has served over 50 families, operates one ReStore, and has built 28 homes.

Member Duties : As a Home Repairs VISTA, you will strengthen HFH Lakeside’s repair program to serve more families. These programs can vary from minor exterior repairs to critical home repairs and/or be tailored to certain populations such as veterans or seniors. 1)Develop and implement a program to recruit, train, and retain a volunteer crew leader program. 2)Organize “train the trainer” materials. 3)Establish Lakeside HFH as an official Veterans Build affiliate. 4)Research and identify public & philanthropic funding opportunities. 5)Document policies and procedures, test and evaluate the various parts of the program and train others on its use. **Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Please submit an application as soon as possible to ensure consideration. Selection may be made before deadline date posted.**
