Mid Rogue Foundation Housing and Health Coordinator VISTA

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Mid Rogue Foundation (MRF) is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of low-income and homeless people – especially senior citizens and children residing in Southern Oregon. Southern Oregon is a rural setting with high levels of low income families and seniors. Nearly 40% of our population qualifies for Medicaid and our poverty rate is approximately 20%. Recognizing that homelessness and inadequate housing are chief determinants of health and that housing is an issue of both personal and public health, MRF seeks to provide new and creative ways to address the critical housing and health care needs. We work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the social and health services for seniors and children through collaboration with providers and other service organizations that serve these populations, and through technology to bridge the gap in resources, housing needs, and other gaps in the delivery of services pertaining to the social determinants of health across our rural communities. The VISTA will serve in Grants Pass, located in the beautiful Rogue Valley. Grants Pass is home to Oregon’s legendary Rogue River known for whitewater thrills and is 30 miles from the Oregon Caves National Monument. Local attractions include forest trails, fly fishing and a dynamic local arts and entertainment scene. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Grants Pass is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health.
