Serve New York VISTA 2019: The Service Collaborative

Serve New York mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to serve organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions focused on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all, and creating healthy futures for the residents of NY. The goal of Serve New York is to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Serve New York program has partner organizations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Bath, Ithaca, Geneva, and White Plains. While serving, members receive support from the VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc. The support includes monthly training, a social network of fellow members, and daily support from VISTA leaders.

Member Duties : The Service Collaborative of Western New York (TSC) is the regional agency improving the lives of those in need and also those with the desire to make a difference, through volunteerism. TSC provides national service programs to Western New York, overseeing, on average, five programs annually. Every day, individuals go out into our communities to serve. The Service Collaborative is proud to give opportunities to people who choose to dedicate this time in their lives to service. The programs of The Service Collaborative focus on four areas that make an impact everyday: Education, Economic Opportunity, Youth Development and Volunteerism. The VISTA member at TSC would be expanding their efforts through developing and implementing a social media marketing plan, aiding and participating in grant research and writing, as well as promoting our Beds for Buffalo project which builds and supplies quality beds to families in need.
