Literacy Source, Outreach & Systems Coordinator VISTA, UWKC
 
 
 
***To be eligible for this position, you must commit to serve full-time for one year with Literacy Source*** Literacy Source provides responsive literacy services, language classes, and citizenship assistance to immigrant and refugees in the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle. The VISTA will work closely with the Program Manager to develop the service of free basic skills education to low-income adults to strengthen the organization’s capacity to support immigrants and refugees. The VISTA member will serve within a large cohort of VISTA members working to fight poverty in King County.

Member Duties : This project fights poverty by increasing the support and resources available to low-income adult students to help mitigate barriers and gain the basic literacy skills needed to secure and maintain a pathway to a more hopeful future. The Community Builder will developing internal resources and expanding external support to provide free learner centered education and skill building services. The VISTA will fight poverty by creating processes for tracking and monitoring fundraising goals, expanding the scope of donor acknowledgment and stewardship activities across all platforms, and developing relationships with potential new funders, assisting with planning and development of special events.
