Mercy Corps Northwest (MCNW) in Walla Walla, Washington supports disadvantaged entrepreneurs in Washington by empowering them through financial and educational resources. We work with more than 1,000 people per year providing them with loans, grants, and training. The VISTA member placed at our Walla Walla office will assist in expanding our reach to include some of the most disadvantaged communities. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the MCNW VISTA will play an important role in the organization, designing the educational material that is shared with existing clients and also creating social media content to share with our growing community. We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting disadvantaged entrepreneurs, experience with social media, and excellent writing skills to be part of the MCNW team in Walla Walla.

Member Duties : As a VISTA member at Mercy Corps Northwest, you will help serve low-income individuals in Washington achieve their entrepreneurial aspirations by supporting our small business programs, including our Individual Development Account (IDA) program, Microloan program, business education program, and community partnership network. Although VISTA’s serve their communities through indirect service, your work will provide improved capacity to MCNW to better reach its target populations. Applicant should hold a four-year degree in behavioral sciences or similar, or four years of relevant work experience, or a combination thereof. The applicant should excel in communication, writing, and marketing. The applicant should have experience navigating social media, developing tracking tools, and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
