Emergency Preparedness Associate (Portland, OR)

Mercy Corps, located in Portland, Oregon, provides humanitarian assistance in times of crisis, and then moves quickly to help communities recover and build resilience to future shocks. The Cascadia team helps Portland metro area communities prepare for emergencies, and works with partner organizations to plan an emergency response. Our community is mostly urban and suburban, serving low-income members of community organizations (especially those serving culturally-specific groups), schools, and local businesses. The VISTA member placed at our agency will assist in developing the preparedness advocates outreach program, which will increase levels of emergency preparedness for low-income community members. The Mercy Corps VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by developing and implementing an economic and social resiliency approach to emergency preparedness in low-income and culturally-specific communities. As a Mercy Corps VISTA you will be part of a cohort coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest. Early applications strongly encouraged. Selections made on a rolling basis.
