Community Investment Trust Coordinator (Portland, OR)
 
 
 
Based in Portland office of Mercy Corps, the VISTA project will focus on supporting the Community Investment Trust, a project that unites neighborhood-based family asset development and community development through the purchase of a commercial office space and sale of its equity to some 300-500 neighborhood investors, who we target to be lower- income, low-asset renters. With a property secured on 122nd and SE Market in Portland, the project will be in the implementation phase with a great deal of, community education training development, communications material development and further model building for replication. Member Duties : The member will generate awareness of the CIT’s project’s goals and services among low-income residents of Portland’s 122nd neighborhood to facilitate community involvement, investment and training. Tasks will include enhancing community investor education, participate in the creation of the design, monitoring, and evaluation plan, developing communication tools for replication, and supporting fundraising efforts. We seek applicants who meet the following criteria. BA or above. Relevant work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Experience/education in community development, business, real estate, or similar is desired but not required. Ability to communicate with diverse communities. Strong writing and presentation skills. Independent. Strong task and time management skills. Motivated to learn. The VISTA will be a part of a team of VISTAs coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest.
