UGA VISTA Network: Campus Kitchen

The Campus Kitchen at UGA spotlights sustainable solutions to hunger and food waste and showcases a mutually beneficial university-community partnership. Campus Kitchen runs a food recovery and redistribution enterprise led by University of Georgia students that transforms unused food into meals and groceries for delivery to older adults and human service agencies in Athens, GA. Campus Kitchen’s work results in equipped, connected and inspired student change-makers, clients receiving nourishment and fellowship through the revealed power of food, and our community growing in our understanding of the systemic challenges facing older adults and our food system. The Campus Kitchen at UGA is an affiliate of the Campus Kitchens Project, and was the first Campus Kitchen to open in Georgia in 2012. The Campus Kitchen at UGA remains centrally focused on combating senior hunger, and is a member of the Athens Senior Hunger Coalition.
