Austin - Generation Citizen Development OneStar VISTA

Did you know that on every measure of civic engagement, Texas ranks at the bottom of the list? At Generation Citizen, we believe that young people are the key to changing those numbers. Help us as we grow to empower more students trapped in “Civic Deserts” across Texas from US News and World Report’s Best Place To Live, Austin, TX. Through a unique action civics curriculum where students can make real change on issues impacting their community, Generation Citizen is working to empower the next generation of civic leaders, showing students in underserved communities that their voices really matter. With a successful first year under our belt, Generation Citizen Central Texas (Austin) is seeking a VISTA to help grow the network and systems used by the organization to engage the community. The position will be fast-paced, creative, and offers a meaningful role on a small, but growing team. The VISTA will have the opportunity to cultivate new donors, improve systems for community engagement and volunteer management, and interact with local community leaders. Our nationwide presence offers opportunities for the VISTA to make an additional impact beyond Texas, with the chance to share learning with sites nationwide. This position offers hands-on experience for any applicant looking to build a career in nonprofit development, or management and an in-depth look into Texas politics and education.
