19-20 TS Institute: Financial Literacy VISTA
 
 
 
The TS Institute promotes economic and financial literacy in schools and non-profit organizations in Iowa, with a primary focus in Pottawattamie, Cass, and Adams counties. Educating young people and adults to make sound decisions with their financial resources supports breaking the cycle of poverty that exists in the communities we serve. The VISTA will coordinate outreach activities, develop strategies to deliver economic and financial literacy content, and expand our volunteer base. With VISTA support, the TS Institute will be able to improve program measurement, increase program/event participation, and improve the infrastructure of our organization. This position is part of Iowa Campus Compact's (IACC) VISTA Community Corps program. IACC is a membership organization for colleges and universities committed to the public role of higher education. The IACC VISTA Community Corps builds partnerships between member campuses and community-based organizations, building capacity and alleviating poverty in relation to education and economic opportunity. While IACC VISTA positions are located across the state of Iowa, this position is located in Treynor, Iowa.

Member Duties : The VISTA will expand and improve TS Institute’s economic and financial literacy program in Pottawattamie County. • Coordinate internal and external resources to assist in facilitating the Institute’s after-school programming at area elementary and middle schools, including Junior Achievement and the Stock Market Game, elementary and middle school summer programming, including entrepreneurship camps, and adult workshops at the Micah House, Iowa Workforce Development, and Iowa Western Community College • Identify and establish partnerships with non-profit organizations that specialize in serving low to moderate income citizens to offer financial literacy programming The VISTA will expand and improve TS Institute’s economic and financial literacy program in Cass and Adams counties. The VISTA will collect and assess information to enhance TS Institute’s organizational infrastructure. • Create a volunteer database, management system, and procedure guide
