Opioid Emergency Response VISTAs
 
 
 
The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service is now accepting applications from qualified candidates to support the Philadelphia Resilience Project, the City’s unified approach to tackle the opioid crisis. The Serve VISTA Corps is a cohort of AmeriCorps members who serve in City Government. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, US citizen or permanent resident, complete criminal background check (if accepted); demonstrated interest in anti-poverty efforts, social justice and volunteerism; the ability to work and collaborate with diverse communities and stakeholders; strong organizational, time management and communication skills; Open to new experiences and growth. Benefits: bi-weekly stipend (approx. $542), end of service ($1,800) or education award ($6,000), relocation allowance (if applicable), transportation pass, and monthly professional development. Member Duties : The Opioid Emergency Response VISTAs will support the long-term goals of the seven Resilience Project Mission Areas: Clearing major encampments, reducing criminal activity, reducing the number of unsheltered individuals, reducing trash and litter, reducing overdoses and the spread of infectious diseases, increasing treatment options, mobilizing community response. VISTA activities may include, but are not limited to: Coordinate housing entry system among all City partners; create and strengthen existing Safe Corridor routes for travel to and from school; examine affordable housing strategies that include family reunification and employment assistance; create or enhance data systems, data management, data integrity, and data analytic capabilities in various city agencies; increase employment and education opportunities; and build strategies for city wide awareness and engagement around the opioid issue.
