2019-2020 Regional Outreach Coordinator

Established in 2013, HomeStart is committed to creating vibrant, healthy communities in Northern Illinois by connecting people and families to beneficial, affordable housing resources and by leading community-based solutions to local challenges. By 2021, HomeStart will be recognized as the Northwest Illinois regional leader for facilitating home ownership with a reputation for excellent services and resources. We will be known as the single point of entry to get answers about housing resources and for engaging the community to create neighborhoods of choice. The VISTA projects aligns with HomeStart’s mission to connect families with beneficial financial resources, and increases our ability to fight poverty in a number of important ways. Becoming a single point of entry for housing resource in our 10 county region is a key strategic goal for HomeStart. This second year of the project will take the work already done in 4 counties and expand it into 6 more counties. This project aims to focus our outreach efforts with a particular emphasis within the underserved areas, and assist HomeStart in collaborating to meet housing needs and gaps within the rural counties. We are looking for hardworking candidates that are familiar with creating events and partnerships. One of our top priorities is empowering and giving resources to neighborhoods and community members. The second focus will be conducting surveys and meetings to see what the community needs next as far as resources and community identity. Preferably, the applicant would be bilingual and entrepreneurial, to help guide community leaders to sustainable programs and development.
