CCFSC's focus is to build food security with economically disadvantaged people who lack access to healthy food. This VISTA’s focus will be the Portland Public Schools’ students and families. The Food Fuels Learning initiative is a partnership between the the CCFSC and the Portland Public Schools (PPS). The overall goal of the Food Fuels Learning initiative is to increase food security for Portland students and families. It is critical to coordinate food programs to maximize efficiency and access all nutrition resources available to our community. Many of the school food programs operate in isolation unaware of best practices and opportunities to serve more students. ccfoodsecurity.org

Member Duties : The overall goal of the Food Fuels Learning initiative is to increase food security for Portland students and families. It is critical to coordinate food programs to maximize efficiency and access all nutrition resources available to our community. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will develop digital and physical infrastructure to allow more students to take advantage of summer and school year food programs. Other responsibilities include strengthening the volunteer infrastructure and supporting our efforts to build food security in public schools. Convene summer food program planning. Support promotion of federal nutrition programs and charitable food programs.
