THN VISTA Homeless SOAR Coordinator (Austin, TX)
 
 
 
The Texas Homeless Network (THN) works to provide solutions to end homelessness in Texas communities through education, resources, and advocacy. Currently, THN has VISTA members placed throughout the state working on capacity building and program development to assist communities in ending homelessness. This project will increase the number of case managers in Texas that are processing SOAR applications. The purpose of SOAR is to increase the accessibility and the number of clients receiving Medicaid or Medicare health coverage and benefits, including supportive housing, through SOAR (SSI/SSDI, Outreach, Access, and Recovery) applications submitted by trained case managers on their behalf.

Member Duties : 1. Identify new communities, focusing on the Texas Balance of State, that want to implement the SOAR program and provide support and tools. 2. Assist with planning and coordination for the first annual Texas Statewide SOAR Conference 3. Provide training and technical assistance to communities using SOAR and/or interested in increasing SOAR capacity. 4. Evaluate areas for improvement, create and conduct SOAR refresher training webinars.
