Members are matched to early childhood programs to provide 1:1 social-emotional skill support for children needing stronger foundation in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management and responsible decision making (foundational EQ). Members build positive relationships with children and staff during first 30 days of classroom observation and then begin MindUP lessons that build positive and effective social skills using breath and movement to calm minds and bodies; time to practice recognizing and regulating emotions; and books to develop curiosity and build interactive confidence with verbal expression within the classroom environment. Members are role models for positive relationships that encourages growth and achievement of children in classroom, and connection with parents/caregivers through Reading Rocks! monthly book gifts to encourage routine reading at home to strengthen child/adult bonding, expand word awareness and deepen word knowledge for Kindergarten success.

Member Duties : Observe children interacting in classroom and develop strategies and interventions needed to build positive social skills; emotion regulation, sensory awareness, breathing and yoga to calm bodies and minds and promotes a positive learning experience which includes developing empathy and kindness to others. Connect families to books to promote routine reading at home for bonding and building word awareness for greater school readiness confidence entering kindergarten.
