The City of Salinas’ mission is to create a safe, healthy, prosperous, vibrant, and equitable community through targeted revitalization, sustainable policies, and well-designed land uses that facilitate a high quality of life and encourages community growth and partnerships. The Alisal Plan is a community driven planning process that will communicate the collective vision of the residents and strategies for on-going collaboration and partnership between the City and community in addressing issues and opportunities specific to the Alisal. The Alisal Plan Support Team, comprised of five VISTA members, will work together on multifaceted strategies to alleviate poverty in the Alisal neighborhood by focusing on Economic Opportunity, Housing, Education and Literacy, and Healthy Futures.
