Spark Central Resource Coordinator

Spark Central’s mission is to ignite the creativity, innovation, and imagination necessary for people to forge the path to their best future. The driving force behind our mission is our belief that everyone deserves access to creative learning opportunities and innovative technologies so they can thrive. We carry out our mission through a three-pronged approach: structured creative programming where participants have their imaginations sparked, open center hours for patrons to work on projects/learn at their own pace, and Neighborhood Outreach where we both go into the neighborhood and bring neighborhood residents to us, making sure that those who need our services most know about us. Our Year 2 VISTA will continue developing our easy-to-use Spark Central curriculum kits and coordinate volunteers for our Passport Program (now called Level Up Creativity) designed by our first VISTA for after-school youth. In addition, our Year 2 VISTA will need to: (1) design a system to keep our community-accessed resources and technology working, up-to-date, and accessible to those with limited tech experience with VISTA-designed, easy-to-use guides and IT volunteer support; (2) support IT volunteers in developing an API-based web database to track how often we serve youth and adults from the West Central community and what resources and programs they access frequently in order for staff to better evaluate and improve our programming and resource accessibility for families in the neighborhood; and (3) post and promote our programs to community calendars and social media on a regular basis to ensure West Central families have access to and are aware of our offerings both in print and online.
