HAPCAP Communication Specialist & Content Creator VISTA 2021
 
 
 
HAPCAP, an anti-poverty nonprofit in Southeast Ohio, strives to mobilize resources that empower individuals to work towards self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life by providing a wide range of programs that meet the many needs and serve thousands of clients annually. A small sampling of these programs include: Meals on Wheels, Head Start/Early Head Start, Weatherization, Logan Public Transit, Energy Assistance Programs and Employment Programs. In order to promote our programs, recruit participants, engage donors, and build partnerships, we utilize multiple strategies to communicate with the public across various channels. We are consistently seeking new and innovative strategies to engage with our stakeholders and share compelling stories about poverty and the lives of the people we serve. The VISTA position will support the overall communications strategy of the organization, and will have abundant opportunity to identify and implement creative ways to help us share about our work, and improve lives across the region.

Member Duties : The Communication Specialist and Content Creator VISTA will work across HAPCAP’s programs to support the overall communications strategy of the organization and help to tell effective and compelling stories about the people we serve and the communities we serve. Specifically, this will include collecting and applying information on how our client-base and community stakeholders prefers to receive information, producing and distributing content across multiple channels, including developing flyers, brochures, videos, and social media content. The VISTA will also work alongside program staff to implement strategies to recruit and retain volunteers, and better orient volunteers to the organization’s mission, and may also support fundraising efforts including writing grant applications or supporting online fundraising.
