Central Community House Summer VISTA

Central Community House’s (CCH) mission is to empower people to reach their full potential, to be self-supporting, and to live cooperatively with all others. In this project, the Summer Associate will support Central Community House’s (CCH) Academy for Community Entrepreneurs (ACE) program. ACE is built upon the rationale that increases in entrepreneurship will lead to individual/familial self-sufficiency, creation of jobs, local economic growth, and corresponding reductions in poverty. The primary goal of ACE is to empower community members to start or expand small businesses. As a result, programming is also aimed at a subsequent goal of creating and/or retaining local jobs, resulting in long-term individual, family, and community economic self-sufficiency. The program includes business model planning; classes that focus on business structure, operations, marketing, finance, and technology; opportunities for networking; and wraparound support for basic needs. The Summer Associate will assist the ACE Program Manager with increasing the number of referral partners, increasing outreach activities, more deeply connecting with current and prospective participants, and providing new and more varied educational opportunities for ACE participants. This will be accomplished by connecting with community members, clients, and potential partners in new and creative ways. The Summer Associate will also have the opportunity to host workshops that highlight their own area of expertise for ACE participants, if desired.
