VYDC - VocRehab

PROGRAM: VT Youth Development Corps members promote hope, justice, & wellbeing for all VT youth. Their service supports innovative initiatives at nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and schools that foster positive youth development and build resilience in youth, helping them avoid opioid use and other unhealthy behaviors. SITE : The mission of VocRehab Vermont is to help Vermonters with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and maintain meaningful employment and to help employers recruit, train, and retain employees with disabilities. Programs offered by VocRehab include: The Vermont Assistive Technology Program Benefits Counseling Mature Workers Transition Youth Program Linking Learning to Careers Progressive Employment Rehab Counselors for the Deaf Supported Employment The VocRehab (VR) Job Coach/Tutor Americorps Member positions (2) support VR youth and young adults with coaching or tutoring for education or training programs and provide job coaching in competitive employment settings. These supports are provided in individual workplace and learning settings, and sometimes in small groups. The target population for tutoring is any youth who needs support to get through a training or education program successfully. The target population for job coaching are youth who need assistance adapting to and acquiring the skills for successful independent employment. Americorps Members serving in these positions have the opportunity to significantly affect education and employment outcomes for participating young people and to change their life trajectory. http://vocrehab.vermont.gov/

Member Duties : The VocRehab (VR) Job Coach/Tutor AmeriCorps Member will provide time limited on-site support for VR youth in education or training settings. This may include assisting youth with completing program applications, doing career awareness activities, completing career assessments, and providing counseling assistance. The AmeriCorps Member will assist VR counselors in preparing youth to apply for competitive employment. This might include direct, one to one support at trainings, or tutoring at workshops or classes. The AmeriCorps Member will provide hands-on job training and job coaching in a workplace in order to help the youth become fully independent. After the youth has become stable on the job, the AmeriCorps Member will provide periodic check ins to make sure the youth is sustaining the required level of job performance. Car recommended.
