Orange County Disaster Volunteer MGMT VISTA OneStar

Orange County Disaster Rebuild’s mission is to assist individuals and families who have unmet needs with recovery from any natural or man-made disasters. Orange County is located in the very southeastern corner of Texas, bordering Louisiana in the area known as the Golden Triangle of Texas. According to the US Census, Orange County has a population of approximately 85,047. Approximately, 75% of Orange County was affected in Hurricane Harvey. Our goal is to provide additional long-term assistance to individuals affected by disasters starting with the most vulnerable population low income, elderly, disabled, single parents. Research shows that natural disasters disproportionality impact poor and marginalized communities and that those living in poverty struggle the most to recover. We are working to offer recovery assistance to all individuals, families and communities more effectively and efficiently until recovery is completed. To help with preparedness and resiliency of Texas communities, Orange County Long Term Recovery is searching for a motivated individual to help develop volunteer management and recruitment methods.
