Social Media & Website Development Coordinator NW Arkansas

This project will focus on the rural areas within all nine counties in our region, which include the counties of Baxter, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Madison, Marion, Newton, Searcy, and Washington. NWAEDD collaborates with the U.S. Economic Development Administration to provide region-wide strategic economic development planning. The VISTA will have the opportunity to specifically focus on promoting the work of the District through social media and website development with the goal of promoting more of the work we do. The VISTA will also work with our smaller rural communities, as opportunities are discovered, to assist them through the utilization of social media or possibly with the creation of a website. The overall goal is to build capacity in rural, economically distressed communities by ensuring those communities are utilizing social media and the internet to promote the good works being done within specific communities and the region. This project is sponsored by the Austin Regional Office (AURO) of the Economic Development Administration (EDA), and will be directly supervised by NWAEDD in Harrison, Arkansas. The overall EDA Mission is "to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy."

Member Duties : VISTAs will work directly with District staff and community leaders to gather in-depth information needed to develop web-based marketing strategies. Over the course of the service, the VISTA will collaborate with District staff and community leaders to identify successes, recommend the proper social media or web platform to share these successes, ensure that established websites and social media accounts have fresh content, and constantly be on the lookout for opportunities to promote NWAEDD and its communities. The VISTA will provide the communities the tools to tell their stories and will inform the citizens of the region about the good work being done.
