CEDO Connect - King St - College and Career Teen Specialist
 
 
 
King Street Center is seeking a College and Career Teen Futures Program Specialist to plan and implement academic support activities for youth in grades 8-12, plan and implement activities aimed at career readiness for youth in grades 8-12, serve with students to research, apply and be prepared for jobs and/or relevant internships. The member will also plan and implement summer education and recreation activities for youth enrolled in the Teen Futures program. (ages 11-18), both onsite and offsite in the community. The member will support Summer program activities and support King St in its mission to create a place where youth meet opportunity through learning, play and connection. This AmeriCorps position will serve as part of CEDO’s CONNECT AmeriCorps program. Our AmeriCorps members receive training and provide direct service in support of program goals to expand culturally appropriate youth programming and family supports to close opportunity gaps in education and employment, and develop community and school engagement. Members strengthen connections for youth to skill building for education and career development, with outcomes of increased school engagement, and increased job readiness, pathways to college and career, internships, and summer jobs. Member service and programming for community connection and positive youth development with youth and families will develop community and civic engagement, and college and workforce readiness. Youth programming and engagement in schools and in our communities, through expanded learning opportunities in and out of school, reduces risky behavior and leads to safer and healthier communities.

Member Duties : The member will support youth in personalized academic support and if applicable, work on Personalized Learning plans, goal setting and organization with teens and serve with youth as a positive role model, modeling safe, respectful, responsible behavior, and processing challenging behaviors with youth, supporting social-emotional wellness. The member will provide access to resources aimed at improving academics including tutors, college prep activities, standardized test prep etc, Field Trip experiences to enhance learning, Communication with school, teachers, family to ensure academic success and personalized career/job goal setting for youth. Take part in and lead other Summer youth activities, promoting positive youth development. Attend training and complete AmeriCorps timesheets, data collection and mid and end of year and other required program reporting. Organize, support, or participate in events and activities across the program network in support of AmeriCorps Team.
