NJ Bonner AmeriCorps: MSF Community School Youth Assistant
 
 
 
The Bonner Foundation and The College of New Jersey sponsors a multi-site collaboration involving institutions of higher education (The College of New Jersey, Rutgers University-New Brunswick) and 6 non-profit organizations to have 35+ AmeriCorps members who provide services related to education, economic opportunity and healthy futures. New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps members commit to a year of direct service by addressing issues related to college access, food security, job skilling training, and youth literacy in Mercer and Middlesex Counties in New Jersey. The New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps Program provides full-time, part-time, and minimum time AmeriCorps positions. Each New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps member will receive a living allowance and an education award upon successful completion of their term of service. The living allowance amount varies upon the type of slot and on where you serve.

Member Duties : • This position will focus on youth literacy enrichment to included activities such as: Academic prep, homework help, and read aloud programs. • Assist with attendance monitoring using evidenced-based curricula • Assist with mentorship of students identified as chronically truant/absent • Attend community meetings • Plan age-appropriate after-school activities • Support other actions and activities provided through the Community School Programs • Become familiar with the agency’s electronic database • Become familiar with trauma-informed practices • Assist in completing quarterly progress reports
