Kids on Course Academic Support Specialist
 
 
 
Members serve 1,700 hours (approximately 35-40 hours a week) at their respective sites over the course of a year. Each FT Kids on Course AmeriCorps Middle School Member will serve at one of our middle school partners, including Roosevelt, or Wilson where they will serve students through academic and social emotional learning activities to improve reading and math skill. Members at Elementary sites will serve at either Van Buren, Grant, or Harrison. Members at High School Sites will serve at either Jefferson or Kennedy. AmeriCorps members will have the opportunity to lead student enrichment, STEAM, and tutoring activities throughout the school year and summer programming. Host sites may change as the program shifts into summer programming.

Member Duties : Perform in-class tutoring sessions with struggling learners and document these sessions in Microsoft Excel Lead enrichment programming at their respective site in conjunction with Kids on Course Learning Lab school year program and Kids on Course University summer program Plan and create after school program curriculums Perform Check and Connect sessions with students to assess behaviors, needs, and participation Perform scheduled mentoring activities such as lunch buddies Organizing and implementing large scale events promoting education or engagement Manage and recruit volunteers to assist in literacy interventions, read to children, pack and distribute weekend food bags, and provide enrichment activities
