People Incorporated began in 1964 as one of the nation’s first community action agencies. People Incorporated now serves 16 counties and cities across with state with almost 30 programs, striving to fulfill the mission “to provide opportunities for economically disadvantaged people to reach their goals in order to improve their lives, their families, and their communities.” The VISTA will help carry out this mission by building partnerships and a referral system so clients can access more resources and see better outcomes for their families. The VISTA can serve at either the Abingdon or Manassas location. More information available after applying.

Member Duties : The VISTA will help People Incorporated of Virginia to grow partnerships with other service providers with the goal of implementing a robust external referral system in order for low income individuals and families to find the resources they need throughout the Southwest and Northern Virginia areas. The VISTA will be creating a referral system that will connect clients to services in their area. The VISTA will be systematically contacting current and potential partners to ensure we have correct information about their services and to establish about 100 MOUs for referrals. The member will work closely with People Incorporated staff to develop external referral data and capabilities in the agency-wide client tracking system.
