Roadrunner Food Bank SeedCorps AmeriCorps-Half Time

Roadrunner Food Bank provides food and hope to 70,000 New Mexicans experiencing hunger each week by FEEDING people, SEEDING partnerships, and LEADING the charge to end hunger. In 2017, Roadrunner distributed more than 33 million pounds of food through over 400 feeding partners across the state. It is renowned in the food bank network for innovative programs. SeedCorps is a new program of Roadrunner Food Bank in partnership with New Mexico Commission for Community Volunteerism. The goal of the program is to improve the health and wellness of food insecure families in New Mexico. Healthy food is an essential part of living a healthy life, and many NM families experiencing poverty struggle to get enough healthy food on the table. Food insecure individuals and communities across New Mexico have a higher risk of developing obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic illnesses than their food secure neighbors. SeedCorps members will provide services aimed at addressing food insecurity and the resulting health inequalities to individuals in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia, Dona Ana and Luna counties. For a year term each member will work with 4 of our existing partner sites. Corps members will learn to empathize with the daily needs and struggles faced by our hungry neighbors while learning about the complex and interconnected issues that lead to food insecurity. Roadrunner has been recognized numerous times as the top nonprofit in the Albuquerque community. Our staff are an audacious team committed to continuous growth. Additionally, we are committed to providing a dynamic, diverse work environment that engages people who are passionate and committed to ending hunger in New Mexico.
