CEDO Connect Youth - Spectrum MYP Youth Navigator
 
 
 
CEDO, City of Burlington, Connect AmeriCorps members provide important resources through direct service to expand culturally appropriate youth programming and family supports to close opportunity gaps in education, career access, and build community connections. Our AmeriCorps Members strengthen connections for youth to skill building for education and career development, with outcomes of increased school engagement, and job readiness, pathways to college and career, internships, and summer jobs. Member service provides innovative responses to pressing community problems with city departments, state agencies, education institutions and nonprofit organizations in Burlington, Winooski, and Chittenden County. Service supports community connection and positive youth development with youth and their families, reducing risky behavior for safer and healthier communities. The Spectrum Multicultural Youth Program (MYP)seeks to provide empowerment to and support for multicultural youth and is committed to meeting their needs by forging connections to existing resources and services, advocating for resources that are newly identified, and working with partner organizations to support increased access to their services. Our AmeriCorps member will provide supports to create a welcoming and culturally sensitive space for multicultural youth, within the age range of 14-24 The Spectrum Multicultural Youth Program Youth Navigator supports teen development, connections, and pathways programming in Burlington and Winooski. Our schools are the most diverse in Vermont, 1 in 3 of our students are students of color, and we strive to build greater equity and inclusion across our school district.

Member Duties : Activate and develop the activities of the Youth Advisory Council. Provide team development and leadership for organizing MYP YLC (Youth Leadership Conference) and MYP Mini World Cup. Assist with Help Desk activities at high schools; provide culturally appropriate supports including for positive youth development, life skills, career awareness, and college and career readiness. Create volunteer/community outreach to in MYP events/programing. Create and implement opportunities for youth engagement to encourage youth leadership and empowerment. Support Overall MYP Programing for youth. Co-coordinate resource space at Spectrum MYP, including programming for positive youth development, life skills, career awareness, and college and career readiness. Provide support to MYP volunteers and assist in developing youth programming and Summer camps. Attend training and complete AmeriCorps timesheets, data collection and mid and end of year and other required program reporting
