Strong City/Liberty Judy Center: Out of School Time Project
 
 
 
The VISTA member will serve the Liberty Judy Center by developing an after school program for pre-k students attending Liberty Elementary School, and a parent education program for their families. This position is sponsored by Strong City Baltimore in Baltimore, MD; and the VISTA member will serve with the Liberty Judy Center in Baltimore, MD. Strong City sponsors 30 VISTA projects at nonprofit, government, and community organizations throughout Baltimore City and Maryland. Established in 1969 to help neighborhoods become safer, better places to live, Strong City's mission is to build and strengthen neighborhoods and people. Strong City will provide support to the Liberty Judy Center and the VISTA member throughout the year, including recruitment, training, resources, professional development opportunities, and meetings.

Member Duties : The goal of this VISTA program is to develop and implement a sustainable out-of-school enrichment program for pre-k students at Liberty Elementary School that meets families’ needs and supports school readiness through high-quality child and parent services. The VISTA will: 1) Build and strengthen relationships with community stakeholders interested in supporting out of school time youth and parent programming. 2) Develop an after-school and parent engagement program for children attending pre-k at Liberty Elementary School, and their families. 3) Develop and implement an evaluation system to analyze the effectiveness of the out-of-school time and parent engagement programs.
