Spirit of the Sun- Resource Development

Spirit of the Sun’s mission is to work in partnership with Native American communities in urban areas and on reservations to boost the resilience of Native people, especially youth and young adults. Our vision is that the Native youth of today become the next generation of Native leaders, entrepreneurs, and skilled professionals who will help guide their communities toward wellness, prosperity, and cultural revitalization. It is our goal to grow our programming in the Denver metro area. We would like to become so good at what we do that we could then support other organizations through guidance and consultations, always in the interest of serving the Native American and Indigenous populations.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will support the program director in researching, drafting and applying for grants to support programming for Spirit of the Sun. Our small non profit is shifting our priorities to provide support to Native youth in urban areas as well as on reservations. The resource development VISTA will be instrumental in securing funding to sustain our vision. Prior experience with grant writing is strongly preferred. Strong writing skills are a must.
