NC Afterschool Corps - Lumbee Tribe Boys & Girls Club
 
 
 
The NC Afterschool Corps VISTA project builds the capacity of after school programs serving low-income children, with a goal of expanding or enhancing the quality of after school services. The project also seeks to develop campus- community partnerships and create after school service opportunities for The University of North Carolina at Pembroke students. Working with the Lumbee Tribe’s Youth Services department, the Corps member will support volunteer involvement, resource development, and program development including planning lessons/ activities that reflect the core areas of all Boys & Girls Clubs programs as directed by the Unit Coordinator to improve our members’ self-esteem and instill a strong sense of identity.

Member Duties : The NC Afterschool Corps member placed with Lumbee Tribe Boys & Girls Clubs will support volunteer recruitment, fundraising and grant-writing, curriculum development, and special events.This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position and does not involve direct service. Instead, this member will perform organizational and program development tasks, including recruiting and training volunteers from the community and campus, researching and preparing grant applications and donor appeals, coordinating events, and preparing lessons/activities for youth development. The member will also serve as a liaison with the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in an effort to develop a volunteer/civic engagement pipeline to the Clubs. THE START DATE FOR THIS POSITION IS TBD. WE EXPECT THE MEMBER WILL BEGIN SERVICE IN AUGUST. START DATE WILL DEPEND ON TRAINING SCHEDULE AND CANDIDATE AVAILABILITY. SERVICE TERM IS 1 FULL YEAR FROM START DATE.
