Strong City/COH: Bilingual Mentorship & Integration Program
 
 
 
This position is sponsored by Strong City Baltimore in Baltimore, MD; and the VISTA member will serve with the City of Hyattsville in Hyattsville, MD. Strong City sponsors 30 VISTA projects at nonprofit, government, and community organizations throughout Baltimore City and Maryland. Established in 1969 to help neighborhoods become safer, better places to live, Strong City's mission is to build and strengthen neighborhoods and people. Strong City will provide support to the City of Hyattsville and the VISTA member throughout the year, including recruitment, training, resources, and professional development opportunities, and meetings.

Member Duties : The goal of the project is to launch, measure, improve and build sustainability for an evidence-based tutoring and mentorship program in coordination with Northstar Tutoring and the City’s teen program as well as implement a sustainability plan to ensure that local schools, teen program staff, and service providers work together to host monthly bilingual parent workshops on how to participate in and/or navigate local institutions and systems to escape poverty. The VISTA will: 1) Coordinate and support the launch of a mentorship and tutoring program. 2) Coordinate and support a steering committee of public school officials and immigrant resource providers. 3) Track outcomes and suggest and implement plans for improvement and sustainability.
