HREI Higher Education Opportunities VISTA

The Human Rights Education Institute’s mission is to celebrate diversity and promote human rights by educating, raising awareness and recognizing the value of all humanity. Many high schools career days and college outreach programs provide students with general information about academic programs but don’t work closely with students to address real or perceived barriers to educational access. Our program will stimulate small group student discussion, create mentoring opportunities, bring light to college scholarships and the application process, create an intimate targeted career fair model, and support workshops to increase higher education participation among this age group. The goals of this project are to provide a deeper engagement with students than existing school resources and community groups are currently providing.
