AMAZING VISTA LEADER, Spirit of the Sun

The VISTA LEADER will develop skills in nonprofit management and aid Native American communities across the United States through a year of AmeriCorps VISTA Leader service! Individuals are eligible to serve as Leaders if they have successfully completed at least one term of service with AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), or one traditional term of service as a Peace Corps volunteer. Priority will be given to applicants who have served as VISTAs and who have prior experience working with Indigenous communities. Spirit of the Sun (SOTS) is a nonprofit focused on meeting the needs of American Indian/Alaskan Native tribes, organizations, and communities through collaborative partnerships that empower Native people. Each year our Native Health, Wealth, and Well being VISTA Program hosts 15-20 VISTAs who serve with Native communities to complete an array of projects across a dozen U.S. states and territories. The Spirit of the Sun VISTA Leader will be based at our headquarters office in Louisville, CO and will support our remote VISTAs and their host organizations by providing mentor ship, training, and other assistance. They will also provide support services to SOTS, such as managing online outreach efforts, assisting with fundraising, and developing new programs for urban Natives in the Denver area. This VISTA Leader will learn the ins and outs of our nonprofit and will have the opportunity to network with a large national constituency in the Native and non-Native professional world.
