Snohomish Cons Dist Enviro Educator for Watershed Recovery

The AmeriCorps Environmental Educator will be a key team member of Snohomish Conservation District’s Youth Education Program, Sound Education by providing high quality environmental education to youth and families throughout Snohomish County and Camano Island with the goal of increasing local awareness and community engagement in Puget Sound watershed recovery efforts. Sound Education provides hands-on environmental education for the protection of natural resources in Snohomish County and Camano Island with the goal of inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards. Sound Education utilizes pedagogy that is inquiry-based and provocative – encouraging students to be active, empowered critical thinkers. Our lessons include strong hands-on and place-based components to engage learners in meaningful education for the protection of natural resources. The AmeriCorps Environmental Educator will serve with Sound Education team members to implement the following education services to youth and community members: in-classroom presentations/lessons, field trips, interactive/educational booths at community fairs and school STEM and parent nights, youth environmental service learning (serving with youth and families to plant trees and native plants at local restoration sites), teacher workshops, and green schoolyard support.
