Iowa Campus Compact (IACC) is a membership organization for colleges and universities committed to the public role of higher education. The IACC VISTA Community Corps builds partnerships between member campuses and community-based organizations, building capacity and alleviating poverty in relation to education and economic opportunity. While IACC VISTA positions are located across the state of Iowa, this position is located in Des Moines, Iowa. Member Duties : The VISTA Leader will support Iowa Campus Compact's VISTA Community Corps program. Iowa Campus Compact’s mission is to strengthen the capacity of colleges and universities to prepare all students to become engaged citizens. Our VISTA focuses on economic opportunity and education, seeking to improve reading scores, create financially literate communities, sustain mentorships with at-risk youth, and eliminate homelessness with the aim to benefit economically disadvantaged families, children, and adults living in Iowa. 12 VISTA members and 1 VISTA leader will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as recruited college student volunteers, conducting program outreach, provide training to child abuse and homeless practitioners, and create mentorship programs over the course of three years.
