United Against Opioid Abuse

Member Duties: Gather data surrounding the opioid epidemic for the Mayor’s Substance Abuse Task Force. Create both a landscape scan and asset map in both Warrick and Spencer Counties. Assist the Vanderburgh County Health Department in efforts related to substance abuse. United Ways in Indiana are new to the issue of the opioid epidemic, but are known for engaging communities and mobilizing resources to fight for basic human needs. The United Against Opioid Abuse AmeriCorps program utilizes AmeriCorps members to assist United Ways and other community organizations in: conducting a landscape scan about how their community is experiencing the opioid problem, developing an asset map to help leaders look at community resources systemically, and engaging the community as part of the solution. This work supports existing coalitions currently working on prevention and response to problematic opioid use. Our policy is to provide equal opportunity for all. We do not discriminate in any aspect of service because of race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, mental or physical disability (including HIV/AIDS), sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, political affiliation, marital or parental status, military service or any other improper criterion.
