The Northern New England Campus Compact VISTA Program is focused on the development of programming on campuses across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont that will increase access to higher education for low income individuals by providing programming focused on improving college aspirations, increasing the belief that college is an option and increasing access to higher education for low income individuals seeking higher education. CCNH is currently recruiting for a team VISTAs to serve at host sites across the state to achieve these goals.

Member Duties : This AmeriCorps VISTA position supports the Elmwood Gardens Homework Help Program, an afterschool program providing learning opportunities and educational support for immigrant, refugee, and underrepresented Manchester elementary and middle school students. The program takes place in a housing community center and is comprised of homework help and structured learning activities run by college mentors. College mentors provide a much needed connection to college and foster the idea that college is possible. VISTA responsibilities include community and school outreach, training and support of college student leaders and volunteers, recruitment and support of students, and program coordination. The VISTA strengthens capacity to meet needs of participants and community. The VISTA manages data and presentations, outreach to Manchester ethnic communities, collaboration with schools, and support of college mentors.
