Northern Illinois Food Bank, a member of Feeding America, has received Charity Navigator’s 4-Star rating for eleven consecutive years for its fiscal responsibility. The Food Bank has been a sponsor of the VISTA program since 2012, and is now recruiting for 10 VISTAs who will begin their 12-month term with the Food Bank in the Fall of 2018. Project sponsors direct the project, supervise members, and provide necessary administrative support to complete goals and objectives of the project. Northern Illinois Food Bank VISTA member positions include: • Capacity Builders – to work with the Food Bank’s Network Partners (food pantries, youth nutrition sites, soup kitchens, and more) • Community Engagement – to secure grants and engage the community • Senior Hunger Program Ambassador - to provide Nutrition Education to all Senior Grocery Program partners • Communications/HR Vista - Review and recommend enhanced communication strategies internally and with network partners • Building Healthy Communities – Bridging the gap to resources toward living healthy lifestyle • Child Nutrition Ambassador – Pilot two new programs for meals program– Family Markets at meal sites and The Meals on the Move mobile meals route at open park sites.

Member Duties : Work collaboratively with a community of donors, volunteers and network partners to develop programs, processes and tools to increase the amount of food provided to communities across the 13 northern Illinois counties.
