Youth Partnerships Developer

Many planning efforts have identified the goals of Northeast Spokane residents for good-paying jobs, access to healthy foods, equitable educational opportunities, safe children, restored housing, and more engaged neighborhoods. Four years ago, the community created a 10 year, holistic plan with multiple strategies to improve outcomes in Northeast Spokane as part of a Federal Promise Zone application in 2015-2016. Although Spokane did not receive the Federal designation, “The Zone Project” became the vehicle to facilitate intentional structure, identify policies, and share resources between organizations to put the Promise Zone plan in action. The Northeast Community Center took on the backbone role for The Zone Project in 2017. We are seeking an engaged, empathetic and motivated AmeriCorps VISTA to help build the capacity of The Zone Project to advance specific partnerships, engage residents, build upon community assets, and track activities and outcomes. Key values in this work include intentional collaboration, restorative justice, racial and economic equity, and compassion. Specifically, we are seeking assistance in advancing efforts that support kids in reaching their full potential and reduce the achievement gap by engaging families at a deeper level, developing stronger learning partnerships, connecting at-risk youth with quality mentoring, jobs and skills-building activities.
