826 Boston: University Partner & Volunteer Engagement Spec.
 
 
 
This position is part of the 826 National Network VISTA Program and is located at 826 Boston in Roxbury, MA. 826 Boston is a nonprofit youth writing and publishing organization that empowers traditionally underserved students ages 6-18 to find their voices, tell their stories, and gain communication skills to succeed in school and in life. 826 Boston's services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this understanding in mind, the organization provides after-school tutoring, field trips, creative writing workshops, in-school tutoring, help for English Language Learners, and in-depth publishing projects. VISTA members will have the opportunity to create new systems and enhance current efforts related to volunteer recruitment, training, and retention; support development and marketing activities; and support in-school and on-site programming.

Member Duties : The 826 Boston: University Partner & Volunteer Engagement Specialist will help to expand the organization's volunteer corps by developing and maintaining strong partnerships with local colleges and universities; assessing volunteer engagement at to ensure continued delivery of free 826 programs and individualized attention (i.e. low student to volunteer ratios) for youth programs; designing and maintaining regular volunteer communications and social media posts to highlight volunteer impact and share resources and important information with the volunteer community; and organizing and coordinating organization-wide initiatives to recognize and show appreciation for 826 Boston's volunteers.
