This position is part of the 826 National Network VISTA Program and is located at 826 Boston in Roxbury, MA. 826 Boston is a nonprofit youth writing and publishing organization that empowers traditionally underserved students ages 6-18 to find their voices, tell their stories, and gain communication skills to succeed in school and in life. 826 Boston's services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this understanding in mind, the organization provides after-school tutoring, field trips, creative writing workshops, in-school tutoring, help for English Language Learners, and in-depth publishing projects. VISTA members will have the opportunity to create new systems and enhance current efforts related to volunteer recruitment, training, and retention; support development and marketing activities; and support in-school and on-site programming.

Member Duties : The 826 Boston Student Engagement & Assessment Designer will develop and implement systems to strengthen the After-School Tutoring and Field Trip programs. Activities will include coordinating and conducting evaluations to measure and monitor student progress, inform program design, and report out on impact to stakeholders; using parent, student, and teacher input to design and implement individualized interventions; and implementing independent and social reading, writing, academic, leadership, and safety initiatives.
