*MTCC AmeriCorps Leader -- Big Sky High
At Big Sky High School each student has high expectations and maximizes his or her experience through involvement in academics, the arts, activities, wellness programs, and the community. The goals of Big Sky High are to create a positive school climate, promote interdisciplinary learning, explore careers and future opportunities, partner with parents and community, and connect all students to Big Sky High School. Our goal is to increase college application and entrance by at least 10% at Big Sky High School. Students currently fill out the common app during Post-Secondary month. Our goal is to increase awareness with students and families. We also have a goal of working with 10th and 11th grade students to decrease the failure rate by 5%, this will be done through identification of academic struggles, identify appropriate interventions, and connections to post-secondary plans.

Member Duties : Engage underserved students in college access activities and involvement in parent engagement nights to help provide information to parents such as post-secondary education and FAFSA. The AmeriCorps Leader will recruit a team of 2 college student AmeriCorps members in addition to the team leader to serve at Big Sky High School. The AmeriCorps team members will help to decrease rate of failures in classes and work with grade level counselors to identify struggling students, help students identify their own road blocks to success, and provide academic mentoring for the identified students. Leader activities will include bi-monthly team member meetings with administration at Big Sky High School. Leader will oversee all aspects in conjunction with administration to make sure team members are meeting the expected outcome. Leader will also meet with grade level counselors, Reach Higher Montana, and the Graduation Coach to work to ensure the academic mentoring is successful.
