Families Moving Forward - Volunteer Engagement Associate
 
 
 
Families Moving Forward, located in Durham, NC, is a local non-profit organization with a mission to offer a temporary home to families with children in the crisis of homelessness. We work together to help create a path to stability and self-sufficiency through personalized services and ongoing community support. Families Moving Forward provides emergency shelter to 21 families at a time. Families receive case management support and onsite programming is offered weekly for parents and children during their stay in the shelter, and after they have transitioned into the aftercare program. Aftercare case management is offered to all families once they move into permanent housing for 12 months. The VISTA member will work towards the mission of the organization by creating or expanding services offered. The VISTA member will focus on developing systems, communication processes, partnerships and resources to ensure the sustainability and expansion of the programs and services offered to Families Moving Forward’s current and former guests.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will enhance the capacity of Families Moving Forward to serve FMF guests (current and former) by increasing our presence in the local community to boost volunteer engagement and involvement, and to develop and implement a strategic, sustainable communication system and volunteer engagement plan. Duties include assessing current volunteer engagement and developing a strategic plan to increase engagement among local business, faith communities, and organizations * oversee the recertification process of Service Enterprise Initiative * coordinating volunteer engagement: recruiting, training, recognizing, reporting * Create a standard volunteer recognition protocol: establish consistent recognition activities offered throughout each level of engagement and across departments * Access FMF’s current use of skill-based volunteers and collaborate with each department to expand service opportunities for skill-based volunteers.
