18' Summer Dupage Habitat for Humanity Deconstruction Leader
DuPage Habitat is in the midst of substantial growth and development. We are a midsized affiliate serving over 20 families per year and we have an aggressive growth plan that will continue to increase the number of families served throughout the foreseeable future. We are seeking to make a long-term impact on the supply of affordable housing in DuPage County and the lives of Habitat homeowners. The AmeriCorps member serving in Deconstruction Crew Leader will continue the Deconstruction Program that was created by the 2016-2017 VISTA member. They will assist in the safe removal of re-sellable items from remodel projects throughtout the community. In addition to working & leadeing with the current Deconstruction volunteer crew, the VISTA will spend time developing relationships with contractors and villages throughout the community. An AmeriCorps member will enable us to continue this expansion at a faster pace. The goal of the deconstruction team is to salvage and divert over 30 tons of material from being deposited into the local landfills, ultimately resulting in over $50,000 in annual revenue to our affliate.
